Article by Forbes: 10 reasons why Out-of-the-box thinkers are unhappy employees

This article from Forbes, has been running trough my mind several times since I read it yesterday morning. Seldom articles does that to me. But this one tricked me. (link to the article at the end of this blog)

Those 10 reasons of why Out-of-the-box thinkers are unhappy employees are only true if you have a bad leader.
And today a bad or poor leader is one who doesn’t understand the need of Out-of-the-box thinkers (innovation) is needed for the company to survive and growth of value for the shareholders.  Remember that if you have a successful compagny there is a lot of people in upstart companies, who are working 24-7 to be better than you. And today and ind the furture this battle will be held in the Digital world. So you as a CIO, Digital leader or any other member of the senior C management has dam quick to learn to embraise and praise employees who can be innovative.

Sadly I experience this fear and lack of competencies and sometimes lack of personal capability to very often in my work referring to the 10 reasons from Forbes article. I meet this at my educations to CIO´s and in my coachings of senior C and C level of management and networks.
Get rid of your fear – there will always be people who are smarter and better than you (hire them to give you success) , embrace the changing world (you can’t stop it), get rid of stress (stress makes you fearful)
It all comes down to people who are bosses and leading others. If they were officers in an army they wouldn’t understand how todays wars is run and they would be to great danger for their men and their country. So to be a leader is about leading your teams to be the absolute best and win the market.
To do this, its essential to understand:
The need to change to lead their organization – so self reflection is necessary and so is social competencies
The need for education to get new skills
Its not what happened in the past, whats matters its dealing with now and the furture
Age of people doesn’t matter in the compagny world, capability to learn does.
Your succes in the past has no big value – its what you are capable of doing the furture as a leader, which gives value
Dont blame your C-level or your Board for your own lack of success – you have to learn to communicate and give them value if they will buy your ideas. (if not leave your job)
Lead on how your members behavior are in your leadership teams and the members of these teams are compared to the target achievement
Then you´ll be leading the people in your organization to the success of implementing innovation to survive as company.
